Taking you on magical journeys
in this world and beyond....

Helen M Sant, is one of York's most well-known and innovative storytellers.  Whether you want to organise: - a school project,
                              - a guided tour,
                              - a birthday party
                              - or an office seminar,
Helen can adapt to provide an entertaining storytelling experience.

Uses of storytelling include:
inspiring children to learn about history in an exciting way;
bringing a museum collection to life;
keeping stories of different cultures and traditions alive;
providing healing and positive solutions to life's problems;
teaching how to expand creative thinking in business.

Here's a sample of positive comments, I've received over the years.

"Just to say how much Jane and I enjoyed the Brontë evening; the old and new elements dovetailed beautifully."

Chris Boocock on "Branwell versus the Brontes", York Literature Festival 2008

"We had a really good time. Gothic Molly was excellent."
A parent commenting on York City Library's Harry Potter book launch event, 2007

"You engaged the children really well."
Anne Mortimer commenting on "Stories of Medieval Beasts" at York Inspire Festival, 2008

On Ghost Walks

"Eleven out of ten. You are the most natural out of all the ghost walkers. Don't change anything."
David Allgood

"Adrian,
Just a quick email to say thank you to you and Helen on a great ghost walk in York .
I came with my family on the weekend of 17/18th of May and we all really enjoyed it."
 Graham Malia

"The stories were very well told and guaranteed to keep the audience entranced. If visitors only have time to do one tour, it should be this one.
Keep up the good work."Maggie Clark

To book me for a festival appearance, workshop, school or other storytelling event, Fees are negotiable and  if you are on a budget, this can be discussed.  Travel costs are usually extra but I am willing to travel anywhere within the UK.

Schools - the going rate is approximately £170 a day for local storytellers, and the minimum is £90, but there are flexible variations on these costs.  I'm approachable and will discuss your requirements as helpfully as I can...

Children's birthday parties
. The rate I am now charging is £70 minimum and travel is extra.  The events will include use of themed props such as storyboxes - these are minature dolls' house type scenes, that I create in order to facilitate story and imagination.

It is possible to arrange a whole themed party with cakes provided, if I have enough notice and can bring another storyteller, so that there is twice as much entertainment!  Contact me to discuss possibilities and prices.

Storytelling Ghost tours, history walks, nature story trails, etc. can be arranged from £5 a head.  Ghost or history pub tours are £6 a head.
